The province of Cordoba is located in Andalusia, in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. The Guadalquivir River, a key element in its development, crosses the territory from east to west and divides the territory into two almost symmetrical regions: Sierra Morena, to the north, and the Campiña and the Penibética area, to the south.
The capital has 319,515 inhabitants and is located on the banks of the Guadalquivir, 123 meters above sea level, at the foot of Sierra Morena and in the geographical center of Andalusia (latitude 37 50’44” and longitude 04 50’23”).
